I went to a Coyotes game the other night and was confused. Why do they have cheerleaders? Why do they have a dance team? How do the dancers not fall on their asses when dancing on ice?

4.0 my last quarter. Not a bad way to end my stay at 'ol AiPX. Still only finished with a 3.4 but that's still not too shabby.

Tomorrow I am to found out/negotiate how much I will be making after graduation. That'll make it a lot easier to go apt. shopping, and hopefully I can find something on Thursday. I'd like to move in sometime in April so we'll see what happens.

I'm still working on shit for portfolio review. I'm spending way more time and money on this shit than I should have considering it really doesn't matter at all. Oh well.

Somehow Carrie must've transferred her sickness via the internet. I woke up with a nice little fever this morning... at least I got to call into work and now I can sleep most of the day, then finish up the 'ol demo reel for tomorrow.

I think my dad's head is going to explode. His son might be a freeloader for another few months, and his daughter who recently bought a house is talking about quitting her job and going on a trip with her boyfriend. Ha ha. :(

Hmmm, I'm having trouble waking up. I've ended up sleeping 10ish hours the past few nights and it's pretty annoying. I've got work to do... no time for sleep!

BTW, I have a website now as most of you probably know. It's www.artofyoung.com and I finally put some stuff up there so you should check it out and let me know if something doesn't work. Thanks. :)

Ugh, I hate my sleep schedule. I'll get at most a few hours of sleep and then work all day tomorrow. :( Then, of course, I'll be working on shit most of the weekend. Boo.

I attempted to go to sleep at around 11:30 tonight but that just wasn't happening. Then I tried again around 1:30 and dozed off shortly but woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. At least I did something semi-constructive. I drew a new character that I'm pretty happy with, and I think it'll be the perfect opportunity for some zbrushage to put in my portfolio. I'll probably draw out a model sheet for it tomorrow night, model it saturday, and then use it as an example when I teach people zbrush on sunday. That's the plan anyway.

Oh well, back to not sleeping.

A few reasons why my job rules:

    1. I get paid to do stuff I like to do anyway.
    2. My hours are somewhere between 8 and 9 to somewhere between 5 and 6. I take lunch whenever the fuck I want. I left early tuesday and still got paid for the entire day.
    3. My boss is totally cool.
    4. I can wear jeans and a t-shirt. Only time I have to dress up is if we're meeting with a client.

    That's enough for now. :)

Hey, I hear there's this guy named Jason, and he hates traditional animation.
    2:53 am
    What about now?

    Yep, still hate it.
    2:52 am
    Yep, still hate 2d.
    12:58 am
I have class in 7 hours. I haven't done shit for the final in that class and it's due next week. I don't care, because I absolutely hate 2d animation.

At least I'm being somewhat productive. I finished the arrangement on a song I've been "working" on forever. Looks like it's going to be about 4 minutes long. Not too shabby. I could go either way with vocals on the verse... pretty much had in mind what I want to do for the chorus melody wise since the beginning. And that's farting into the mic.

And now back to doing nothing when I should be doing something.

Why do good drums have to be so expensive?

Ordering a "custom" drumset would be somewhere around 5-6k, and that's only for the shells. No hardware, not even the tom mounts. That's just pure insanity, and it's not going to happen. So I've been trying to price out a nice maple kit, and it's still going to be AT LEAST 2k for the shells, still no hardware. And that's for a 4 piece. What makes things even harder is finding a place that lists this stuff online. None of the major retailers have dw listed on their websites, and don't have tama starclassic kits either. None of the other brands even really appeal to me due to features and/or price. When I went snare shopping last year, I pretty much fell in love with the sound of a dw snare. I've still never played a dw set, though, so I have no idea what the rest of it sounds like. I'd like to play a starclassic too, but there are a few options that could change the sound, and I'm not sure a store will have all three. I'd like to play a standard set, one with sound focus rings, and one with the wrapped finish instead of paint/lacquer.

I've been thinking about shipping my current set to Phoenix, but that seems like it'd cost quite a bit. I at least need my cymbals and hardware, but it'd probably be better to just start piecing together shit out here. Maybe I'll buy a nice snare while over break, and buy a case for it and ship it back to Phoenix.

I miss playing with a band so much. I can play all I want by myself, and I'm never going to progress as much as I should without playing with other people. It'd be nice to have a house so we could practice at my place too. I realize lugging around large amps is a pain and everything, but being a drummer sucks the most ass when it comes to moving stuff around for practice and gigs.... and I'm not about to leave a 5k drumset over at someone's house I don't really know. My rockstar would then come in handy for practice purposes which makes me think I should ship it out here anyway. But then I'll just have a nice ass set sitting in an apt. for most of the time until I take it out for shows or recording.

Have I mentioned how much I despise 2d animation?

So yeah, I want a new drumset. I think the 'ol rockstar has held up pretty well through the years, with the exception of the snare being a pile of shit right now. And most of that is because the throwoff is broken and held together with duct tape. It wasn't an expensive set to begin with, though. My 4 cymbals literally cost just as much as the drumset itself. I think the set was around 800(it was a rockstar custom, so it had a nicer finish and the starcast mounts that regular rockstars didnt have), and the cymbals brought the total up to 1600ish. I really like the cymbals and don't see myself changing those right off the bat. It's not really a bad sounding set either. I definitely need to re-head/tune it hardcore, and probably just tighten everything up. It's sounded decent(again, aside from the snare) in concert/recording situations... Do I really need a new drumset? I NEED a new guitar, that's for damn sure. But the drumset isn't of professional quality, and that's a fact. I'd like to play in a band for longer than 6 months for once, and play shows regularly... record something. In those situations, having pro equipment would definitely come in handy.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...
